Little Patriots Playgroup

Students taking Early Childhood Education II at Ward Melville High School hosted a Little Patriots Playgroup to bring together children in the Three Village community while gaining real-world classroom experience. Three Village children ages 3 to 5 were invited to join the playgroup. The high school students planned a two-hour, carnival-themed session for the children to participate in. They read a story, did arts and crafts, played carnival games and enjoyed a snack.

It was a valuable experience for the Ward Melville High School students, as planning the playgroup aligned with what they learn in their early childhood education course. They ensured the activities were developmentally appropriate while providing a safe space for the young children. On the other hand, the playgroup brought together some of the youngest members of the Three Village community for a few hours of social play.

The Ward Melville High School varsity softball team hosted its annual charity game on April 27. This season, Rocky Point joined our teams to help raise awareness for mental health, in honor and memory of Forest Hills softball player Jordan Kenna.

The Patriots varsity team helped raise $5,437 for Morgan’s Message, an organization that works to provide resources and support for individuals struggling with mental health challenges. It was a beautiful day for parents, fans and softball players of all ages to come together for a great cause.
